8/30/23 – This is a 1936 production Sauer K98 rifle with a matching barrel. The rest of the parts are mis-matching and generally put together from both WW1 and WW2 era parts. The rifle shows surface patina and honest wear throughout, but there is no rust or pitting. No import stamps as well. The metal finish rates around 65%. The wood stock has handling wear and a few typical scratches, dings, and dents. There’s a small chip in the wood near the wrist area, and some wear at the base of the buttstock, but this shouldn’t affect functionality. The right side of the buttstock still shows the original waffen military proof stamps. The bolt assembly is matching to itself, and is functional with smooth operation. The bore shows signs of use wear and mild corrosion throughout, but should still function as there’s strong rifling throughout. We rate the bore 7/10 overall.
