6/5/24 – This is an original, early WW2 production K98 bayonet. The bayonet comes with a matching numbered scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet blade is in great condition with most of the original blued finish intact. There’s light high edge wear and scabbard rub wear, as well as a few small areas of dark surface patina on one side of the blade. The base of the blade is maker stamped “S/245” for the maker Jetter & Scheerer (uncommon). The other side of the blade base is serial numbered. The edge shows light sharpening and use but is clean throughout. Great condition hand guard and pommel with mild finish thinning throughout. Correct, early wood handles. The scabbard has no dents and is in great condition with a matching serial number (4686c) and maker code. Some light patina and finish loss. The leather frog has a faint maker stamp and 1938 date on the backside. A few stitches are loose or missing, but most of the original stitching is excellent.
