7/25/23 – This is a nice example of an “S/147” Code JP Sauer K98 rifle issued to the Nazi military in 1936. The gun is largely mismatched, has a “Russian X” on the receiver, and has electro-penciled numbering on some of the parts, indicating this gun was a Russian capture. Import mark on the barrel. The metal parts have retained roughly 75% of their finish. The finish has a dull appearance with areas of thinning along the barrel and on the receiver. Brown patina on the barrel bands. The wood furniture is in very nice condition. The stock is numbered and mismatched and appears to have been lightly sanded. The bore has pretty good rifling, but there is freckling throughout.
