9/1/17 – Not too many lugers were ordered for the Police in the 1920’s as they were destroying or exporting most of their lugers during this time. This luger comes in 9mm, and is all matching and original except for a non-matching police magazine. The original finish is about 94-95% with some patina showing thru the finish and a little wear on the sideplate and bottom of front strap. The straw color small parts are at about 50%. The gun has commercial Crown/N proofs and also police characteristics. Most notably there is a police unit marking on the front strap – L.P Th. 561. We will let a more knowledgeable collector tell us the meaning of the marking and add that information when we get it. The gun also has the added police sear safety and intact magazine safety that was used in the 1920 era. The grips are excellent and numbered to the gun. The bore is also shiny and excellent. This is an excellent example of a “between the wars” Police luger.
