4/30/24 – This is an early WW1 production, 1914 dated Butcher style rifle bayonet by Erfurt. The bayonet comes with an original scabbard and a reproduction leather frog. The bayonet blade has a blued finish with high edge wear and some finish loss near the tip. The spine of the blade is proof stamped and dated, and the base of the blade is maker stamped, as shown. The hand guard and pommel have dark patina throughout and show natural age. The hand guard is unit stamped “949” and the pommel has Imperial proof stamps. The wood handle has a few blemishes and a small chip near the pommel, but is in great overall condition. The scabbard is in great condition as well.
