12/19/22 – This is a nice example of a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 Rifle. The receiver dates to late 1909 and the barrel is RIA marked and dated May of 1910. There is a partial cross-canon cartouche on the left side of the stock – only about half is visible. Comes with a leather. The gun has retained roughly 85% of its finish. The finish loss is most noticeable on the barrel bands, around the rear sight, and on the trigger guard. The stock is nice, but there are some small gouges in the upper handguard and a hairline crack on the right side around the wrist. The bore has decent rifling, but there are some areas of pin-pricking throughout.
