10/3/23 – This is a Shortened 1907 Wilkinsons Bayonet with a leather scabbard. The blade has little to no surface rust or pitting and the finish is in great condition overall. The black painted finish is likely due to an arsenal re-work at some point post WW1. The edge has been sharpened since the bayonet was shortened and likely converted for use as a fighting knife. All maker’s marks and markings are visible on the ricasso. Cross guard and pommel have minor handling marks with no rust or pitting. Wood grips mostly show storage aging with no significant wear. The scabbard has one minor surface scuff on the front with no major issues.
