12/7/22 – This is a very nice example of a Rock Island Armory Model 1903 bolt action rifle. The serial is fairly early, dating the receiver to 1906. The barrel was made by RIA, is dated September of 1917, has a proper military cross-canon cartouche, and is marked “M21” on the underside. Replacement wood stock. Springfield bolt marked “BF 24”. This gun was reworked after WW1, most likely for re-issue during WW2. It has an arsenal-applied parkerized finish. There is virtually no actual finish loss, just a few tiny scuffs here and there. The wood stock is minty, but there is a ding on the right side of the butt stock and what appears to be a repair around the wrist. Some light scratches and dings on the upper handguards. The color of the upper handguards does not match the rest of the stock. Comes with a front sight hood. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
