3/22/23 – This is a nice example of a Springfield 1903 rifle issued to the US military. The receiver dates to 1905. The barrel is also Springfield marked and dated 1905. The wood stock has the proper “JFC” inspector initials for a Springfield stock. There are what look like rack numbers stamped into the top edge of the butt stock. There is thinning along the barrel, on both sides of the rear sight, and on the floor plate. Areas of light spotty oxidation throughout but most noticeable on the floor plate / trigger group where there are also some tiny pits. Nice wood stock with no major damage, just a few tiny gouges here and there. The color of the upper handguards does not match the rest of the gun. The bore has good rifling with very minor pin-pricking throughout.
