3/22/23 – This is an Amberg Gewehr 88 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1893. It is mismatched and has Imperial German proofs throughout. This gun likely ended up in Turkey at some point, because the rear sight and bolt are Turkish replacements. The stock is Imperial-proofed. There appears to be a unit marking on the rear barrel band. The gun has lost most of its finish with obvious wear throughout. There is also spotty brown patina and some light scratches throughout. Most of the remaining bluing is on the magazine. No major damage to the wood stock, but there are small dings and scratches throughout. Surprisingly, it has a mint bore. This is an antique – no FFL required.
