11/6/23 – This is a 106mm M40 Recoilless Round from 1956. These rounds were used in Korea and Vietnam and were considered “Recoilless” due to the vent holes throughout the cartridge, which helped with recoil and allowed gasses to escape more easily from these larger projectiles. This inert round is in great condition with some mild surface rust near the base, but visible head stamps and nicely marked drill projectile added. Measures about 38 inches long and base diameter of about 5 inches.
