11/5/18 – This is a rare RAD Enlisted Rank’s Hewer with very rare two piece hanger. Overall this is a beautiful piece in minty condition. Although not cleaned, the original nickel-silver plating on all fitting and components show no sign of corrosion or loss of plating and areas have a very warm yellow nickel look. The forged steel blade of this dagger is in choice, as issued condition, with a brushed nickel finish. Some natural discoloration / yellowing of this finish is found, but we don’t think this takes away from the overall condition. Very minimal scabbard “runner” marks on the blade. The RAD motto, “Arbeit Adelt”, (Labor ennobles) is etched in modified Old English script into the surface of obverse of the blade that retains about 98% of its original factory applied darkening. Also, on the obverse at the hilt end of the blade, is the Alcoso trademark logo. It is near impossible to find a museum quality specimen like this, complete with the very rare, original two-part hanger and all maker marked and dated. Guaranteed all original and authentic.
