10/21/24 – This is good example of a WW2 Ersatz Navy Style Mauser HSc holster. This holster is constructed in the fashion of a navy holster, but does not have any naval markings.
The holster is constructed out a multilayered material designed to imitate leather, the closure strap is leather. The holster remains pliable in overall good condition. The top of the belt loop has torn away from the the holster body. The holster’s stitching is still strong, with the exception of the belt loop. Ersatz items were made toward the end of the war, Ersatz being German for substitute. As leather became increasingly scarce, alternative materials were sought out and put in use.
