10/19/17 – This is a super rare gutta-percha case for the Smith & Wesson Model One, manufactured by Littlefield & Parsons. It is estimated that 5,000 gutta-percha cases were made for the Model Number One 1st Issue & 2nd Issue by this company. Gutta-percha is an early type of plastic that looks and feels similar to the ‘hard rubber’ material commonly used for 19th century pistol grips. This is the “pistol” type case with a Model One 1st Issue on the lid and velvet lined interior that includes an irregularly shaped cartridge holder. This particular case is in fantastic condition, and I would think it nearly impossible to upgrade.
