3/7/17 – In the 1920’s A.F.Stoeger was a retailer in New York who imported guns to sell in the US. They often marked the guns as seen on this luger. However, this gun is (I believe) a bit of a “Frankenstein”. The Stoeger marking on the receiver looks authentic to me and it has the correct commercial proof. However, the frame is not GERMANY marked, and I believe it should be. Yet, all of the numbered parts are matching. The barrel is not numbered (and I believe it should be) and it has a NAVY proof underneath. The grips fit like they are original but not numbered, as is the bottom of the magazine. American Eagle marking on top looks strong and original. The finish looks all original at about 95-96%, with some high edge wear and wear at the bottom of the straps. The straw color small parts are about 70%. Interior of frame and receiver are in the white as they should be. Extractor is in English and reads “Loaded”, but the safety is in Germany. So…. my conclusion is that while this looks like an all matching original finish gun, I have to conclude that it was put together from parts – I am not sure when. It comes in 9mm and the bore is mint.
