10/31/24 – This is a very nice example of a 2nd model Luftwaffe dagger made by F.W. Holler in Solingen Germany. Both the scabbard and the handle have no dents. The orange celluloid grip does have a few nicks and still maintains one complete wire wrap, the other wire wrap is missing. The blade shows standard wear from the scabbard and does exhibit gray shadowing throughout. The edge of the blade has no chips and does not show any signs of being sharpened. This dagger comes with it’s original Luftwaffe hanger, this hanger being the more sought after “deluxe” model that would have cost the soldier more than the standard hanger. The buckles on the hanger are embellished with oakleaves. The fabric of the hanger has very minor fraying and still has it’s original felt backing. However, some of the felt backing is missing. This dagger also comes with it’s original portepee, the portepee does have some minor fraying near the knot.
