10/4/24 – This is an original, early cavalry (or dismounted style) 1911 holster. The holster is in very good shape, especially given its’ age. The leather has some signs of use and aging, such as surface wrinkling, light cracking and some abrasion wear in a few different areas on the holster. The leather is intact with only one small tear near the upper left rivet on the leather hanger. The stitching is all tight and original with no missing stitches. The front of the holster is stamped “US” and additionally stamped “NC” and “RI”. The back leather has a strong maker stamp that is easily legible. The interior of the holster is in very good condition. The inside of the holster is marked ” Major Bourdon A. Babcock Coast Artillery Corps.”.
