10/1/24 – This is an excellent example of a M1 Garand bayonet made by UFH in 1943. This particular bayonet is what is commonly referred to as a “Cut” bayonet as it started out with a 16 inch blade that was cut down to the updated standards for use in WW2. The blade on this bayonet is in excellent condition and maintains almost all of it’s original finish with only minor thinning of the finish caused from scabbard wear. The blade maintains it’s original edge and has no signs or evidence of being sharpened. The blade is marked above the cross guard with “U.F.H. U.S. 1943” with the ordinance bomb between the U.S. as well as being ordinance marked on the opposite side of the blade. The grip scales on this bayonet are also in excellent condition with only a few minor blemishes. The locking mechanism on this bayonet is still functional and strong. The scabbard on this bayonet is also in excellent condition with only one minor area of abrasion damage near the tip of the scabbard, and a few minor marks from use.
