9/5/24 – This is an early WW2 Luftwaffe Fallschirmjager Badge by JMME. The badge is two piece construction with a silvered nickel-silver wreath and a gold-gilded tombac eagle. The eagle is securely fastened to the wreath by two pins as shown. The backside of the eagle is maker stamped, “JMME & SOHN BERLIN”. The eagle displays fine quality and detail with traces of original finish still intact. There’s high edge wear and some dark colored patina on the eagle wings and breast. The wreath is similar condition with a fair amount of silvered finish remaining and natural patina with high edge wear. The backside of the badge has correct style straight pin and simple hook with barrel hinge. The hinge, pin, and hook all have excellent natural patina, and are completely non-magnetic. A name has been lightly scratched into the backside of the wreath, which is barely legible (we can’t decipher the name). Overall a great condition early example by JMME with nice natural patina and age.
