8/29/24 – For sale is an original and matching 1891 Argentine Mauser. The finish on this rifle has thinned over the years but is overall very clean with no rust on the barrel, receiver, or magazine; in addition, the rifle retains almost all of the fire bluing on the bolt release lever. Overall finish Rates 85%. The bore is a bit dark with light pitting throughout but still has pretty strong rifling; we rate the bore a 7.5/10. Excellent wood throughout that shows nothing more than normal handling wear. The action is very smooth and is fully functional. Argentine national crest has been ground off the receiver, which was common practice when these rifles were imported into the United States in the 1960s. One thing to note about this particular rifle is that Loewe Berlin did not send any complete rifles to Argentina under the P serial block. This rifle was assembled and delivered by DWM in 1899 using old stock Loewe Berlin receivers. The actual production date of the receiver is 1895, making this rifle an antique.
