8/14/24 – This is a very nice example of a Colt Model 1911 issued to the US military in 1918. It is all correct with a proper “H P” Colt barrel. It has retained roughly 85% of its original military bluing. The majority of the finish loss comes in the form of thinning on the grip straps, so the profile views are nice. However, there are areas with tiny pits here and there – most noticeable on the slide. Fitted with nice period-correct wood grips and comes with a proper two-tone magazine. The bore has great rifling, but there is very light pin-pricking in the grooves. The hold-open doesn’t work with this magazine. We tried a different mag, and it worked perfectly fine.
