8/2/24 – This is an original WW2 era production USN Mark 1 Knife. The knife features tri-colored spacers on the handle, an aluminum pommel, and comes with an original USN Mk 1 sheath. The knife blade is excellent with “PAL RH 35” stamped on one side of the ricasso, and the other side is stamped, “U.S.N. MARK 1”. The finish is excellent on the blade, with some mild thinning. Visible machine marks or cross-graining. The edge is clean but has been sharpened. There’s some off-white colored residue around the hand guard, but the spacer is intact and the leather handle is in great overall condition with mild handling wear. Aluminum pommel shows natural age. Interestingly, the sheath is double-stamped “USN MK 1”, which is a somewhat desirable ‘factory error’. Otherwise the sheath is in mint condition. Overall an excellent example WW2 US Navy Utility knife.
