7/11/24 – This is an original WW2 Japanese Good Luck Flag. These flags were signed with messages for good luck and best wishes in battle. Soldiers then wore and kept these flags as mementos from their loved ones. This example is in great condition with multiple handwritten messages, or “signatures”. The flag has no rips, holes, or tears and minimal staining. The threading throughout is thin, making the flag semitransparent. Great condition stitching throughout the border, with only a few loose threads sporadically along the edge. Two corners are reinforced with a shiny gold color material for hanging, and original hanging threads still attached. A very nice example overall, measuring approximately 70cm x 79.5cm.
