P 38 Field Strip and Disassembly

P 38 Field Strip and Disassembly Step by Step

Hey, welcome to another takedown video by Legacy Collectibles. Today, I’m going to take apart a mouser BYF 44 p. 38. So the P-38 is really easy to take apart. When you have some time please check out our New Items Listed!

Taking the P 38 Apart

First, slide the slide back onto the frame

The first thing you want to do is pull the slide back so that the slide stays in the back position.

Safety is Off

Notice the safety is off. Here it is on fire. Once your got your slide stuck in the back position, you want to take the magazine out to hold open. There should keep the slide held open.

Next, pulling the magazine out

Pull down on the Takedown Lever

Pull down on the take down lever. That’s your take down lever. Pull down on that. Then you can release the slide forward and see it’s already starting to come off a little bit.

Release the Hammer

Final step, pull the trigger and release the hammer

Then the final step. Release the hammer. So I’m pulling the trigger, release the hammer. There you got to line it up. Line up the sliding frame. Release the hammer. And now boom slides right off.

Verify the Serial Numbers

Verify the serial number on the slide

You can see the internals now of the P-38 frame and the slide. The important marking on the slide is that it will be serial numbered. The last three digits and the letter suffix matching to the gun. So there you go.

That’s all matching P-38. There are internally matching P-38. This one only has a three-digit serial number. And now we’ll get it back together. All right.

Putting the P 38 back Together

So now we’re going to get this P-38 back together. It’s really simple again.

You’re just gonna do the same thing you you recently did in reverse.

Slide the Slide Back into Frame

You slide the slide back onto the frame, match the rails up, slide it on through.

Watch the Pins!

Oh, it’s important to note here. You see these there’s some pins on the frame that might stick out. There we go. Got them to stick out for you, though, or you’ll get caught on those. You want to make sure it’s flush. Push those down inside the frame.

Takedown lever back into Locked Position

So we slide our slide back onto the frame. Pull the slide back, push up on the hold open here to keep that slide open. Then the takedown lever goes back into the lock position.

Place the Magazine Back

Put your magazine back in and boom, there you have it, your guns back together just where we started from.

You’re Done!

So that was a quick takedown of a mouser P-38. Really simple, straightforward. I will be posting more takedown videos for you guys.

Thank You!
