6/13/24 – This is a rare, early Mk 1 M1910 Ross Rifle bayonet. The bayonet features a pinned flat-head pommel and has flat metal springs inside the muzzle ring (Mk1 features). The bayonet also has a U.S. flaming bomb ordnance stamp on one of the wood panels, making this one of the ~20,000 Ross rifles and bayonets purchased by the US from Canada in 1917. The blade measures 10 inches with original bluing on the ricasso. There’s minimal oxidation on the blade, and the edge is clean and unsharpened. The wood grips are in great shape with original proofs and a few light chips near the screws. Natural patina throughout the hand guard and pommel. Comes with an original leather scabbard. The scabbard has a metal reinforced mouth and a ball-tipped metal base, but the body is loose leather. There’s natural wear throughout and the leather is pliable. The backside is marked as shown in photos. Great overall example with some cool history.
