6/9/24 – This is a rare, pre WW1 German M1871 / M1884 Rifle Bayonet. The bayonet comes with an original scabbard. Both the scabbard and the hand guard are regimentally marked. The bayonet blade measures about 25cm long, with overall length of 37.5cm. The blade shows natural patina and surface oxidation throughout. The edge shows signs of sharpening and use wear with a few small nicks, mostly near the tip. The spine is Imperial proof stamped and 1888 dated. Nice natural patina throughout the hand guard and pommel. Original wood handles are in great condition with some minor bruises and dents but no cracks or chips. The scabbard shows natural patina and the stitching is separated on the back seam, but the leather and scabbard is still completely intact and firm / functional. Great overall condition for its age.
