5/20/24 – This is an excellent example of an early WW2 US Military Machete with an early leather sheath. These machete’s were used in the Philippines and Japan during WW2 by the USMC. This example has a well marked blade that’s maker stamped and dated on one side. There’s spotty surface oxidation throughout the blade but no rust or pitting. The edge shows signs of use and sharpening, but there’s no excessive wear or damage. The original handle is in great shape, held together by 5 rivets. The blade measures about 22 inches long, with overall length around 27 inches. The highlight of this offering is the leather sheath, which is in minty condition and well marked with a maker and date on the backside. Most of these leather sheaths were worn and damaged in the humid climates they were often used in, making this an exceptional example.
