5/15/24 – This is an excellent condition Winchester M1917 US Trench Shotgun Bayonet. This example features all original finish and an original scabbard that still has the leather tab intact. This leather tab is located just below the belt hooks and is in great overall condition. Usually this leather was the first piece to wear away or was simply removed by a previous owner, hence why they’re seldom seen today. The backside of the tab is stamped with unit or serial numbers. The scabbard has great condition olive colored leather that’s maker stamped “GK” and has initials scratched into it just below. Natural patina on the mouth and toe of the scabbard, but no excessive wear. The blade is excellent with dark, spotty surface oxidation throughout but none of this is textured, nor is there any rust or pitting. The edge is clean and the base retains original blued finish. Stamped with a Winchester “W” and 1917 date on one side, and ordnance stamped on the other side. Great condition hand guard and pommel, with all original wood grips.
