4/12/24 – This is a very rare Steyr G29(o) assembly that was part of a small Luftwaffe contract. These rifles were part of a separate contract that was being manufactured at Steyr when the 1938 annexation of Austria occurred. The Luftwaffe, in desperate need of small arms, immediately took over the production and the rifle was modified as much as possible to the standard 98k Rifle configuration. It was made briefly in 1938 and early 1939, after which the factory was re-tooled to manufacture the standard K98k. This one is matching and has retained about 93-94% of its finish with minor muzzle wear, very minor high edge wear, and a few light marks here and there. Very nice wood stock that is matching-numbered and waffen proofed. No major structural damage, but there are obvious signs of wear and use. The bore has strong rifling, but there is some minor frosting in the grooves.
