4/10/24 – Hermann Goring was instrumental in getting Krieghoff several Luftwaffe contracts during WW2. In exchange, Krieghoff made for him an estimated 10 Engraved guns that he used to present to Nazi party “big wigs” along with Luftwaffe aces. It has been documented that he would invite these “cronies” to lavish hunting villas where they were wined and dined and given gifts such as the M-30 drilling and in some very special cases – an engraved luger such as the one presented here. This engraved Krieghoff has a silver finish and a deeply engraved oak leaf and acorn. Its date of presentation is 1941. The serial is 1304, and it has a matching magazine. It is believed that this one was presented to a Luftwaffe ace, but there is no documentation on the recipient of this fine piece of art. It has finely decorated ivory grips and comes in a display case that seems the same as the factory cases presented in Gibson’s book on Krieghoffs. This is a truly rare piece that we are offering as a consignment piece. Such high-end pieces rarely come available and typically offer beauty, history and in this case – potential for investment.
