4/8/24 – This is an early Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military in 1937. It has the proper waffen military acceptance proofs throughout and has an “S/42” Mauser factory code on the receiver. It is all matching, including the stock. There is a Luftwaffe marking on the left side of the breech, but we believe it is spurious. There are three added screws on the left side of the receiver where it appears it was tapped for a scope mount. There is a wood repair on the bottom edge of the butt stock. The finish on the metal parts rates about 90%. There is general high edge wear, but most of the finish loss is on the floor plate / trigger group. The stock shows obvious signs of wear and use throughout. The bore has good rifling, but there is minor pin-pricking throughout. Comes with a period-correct leather sling.
