3/28/24 – This is a rare and desirable Colt Cavalry Single Action Army revolver from 1882. It is all matching and original with proper 7.5in barrel. It is David F. Clark (D.F.C.) inspected on multiple parts. David F. Clark. Clark inspected a total of 13,000 Single Action Army revolvers from eight different government contracts during his eight-year tenure at Colt from 1880 to 1887. The finish on the revolver is original but obviously completely worn throughout with surface oxidation and patina. The grips appear original to the gun and have a faint cartouche on each panel, but are worn and the inspector markings cannot be made out. Timing and lockup appear to be sound. Matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and backstrap. DFC inspector markings on grip, barrel, and frame. Martially marked receiver. Bore has decent rifling, with minor frost and freckling in the grooves. This is a great Indian Wars era gun, accepted by David F. Clark during the last quarter of 1882, and was in service for the last decade of serious Indian War service.
