3/13/24 – This is a rare USMC-issued Colt Model 1905 DA Revolver, chambered in .38 Caliber. There were 812 1905 Revolvers made for the Marine Corps during it’s short existence. It was part of the evolution of the M1892 DA revolver except that it had a special round butt frame and special diamond checkered grips that were special requests of the Marines. The butt is factory marked “U.S.M.C.” over the serial number “No 720”. The factory assembly number “568” is stamped inside the frame and on the yoke. It has lost virtually all of its original finish with spotty brown patina throughout and some tiny pits here and there. Nice wood grips that having matching “568” assembly numbers. The bore has good rifling with light pin-pricking throughout.
