3/4/24 – This is a excellent condition 1944 dated K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard and leather frog. The blade is in great condition with little wear throughout other than being sharpened. Maker stamped “44fnj” on one side, and serial numbered 3561n on the other. The grip is in minty condition. The pommel has minimal finish wear but on several dent around the edge with the WaA519 stamp. The hand gaurd has minor finish loss but also has several dents around it. The scabbard has a dull finish with minor wear where the inside of the leather frog covers as seen in photos. The scabbard serial number matches the blade, with a maker and date stamp on the other side. Interestingly, the serial on the scabbards “N” is capitalized, whereas the blades “n” is lowercase. the scabbard has no severe dents and fits nicely. The leather frog is unmarked, and in great condition other than the minor partial tear as seen in photos, this tear doesn’t go more than 1/3rd the way through. Both scabbard and pommel are inspector marked WaA519. Overall an excellent example.
