12/23/23 – This is aCzech CZ Model 24, manufactured in 1937 before the German occupation. It was later captured by the Germans and issued to the military or police forces. These are known as pre-occupation guns. Known serial range for this variation is about 12000-190000. It is matching and has retained about 92% of its original high polish finish. Minor spotty wear along both sides of the slide and light spotty oxidation on the front strap. Fitted with an excellent bakelite grip – no cracks or chips. Comes with one proper magazine. Very nice bore with great rifling. From Jan Still’s “Axis Pistols” book, “German occupation resulted in the disarming of the Czechoslovakian Army and capture of a large stock of Cz 24’s (the Czechoslovakian police were allowed to retain their weapons). Pre-occupation Czech gun registration lists and the penalty of death for unauthorized pistols resulted in the surrender of almost all civilian pistols to the German occupying forces. Most of the captured Cz 24’s were reissued without additional proofing to the Waffen SS and SS Police Divisions”.
