10/19/23 – This is an original 1941 production Luftwaffe Afrika Korps Pith helmet. The helmet is an earlier model with a cork brim and cloth exterior. The cloth around the edge of the brim is broken throughout, which has exposed the cork underneath, and in turn has led to some deterioration of the cork. There’s small portions of the cork missing around the brim, but most of the cork remains intact and the helmet is still structurally sound. The exterior shows both original decals, one of the German shield, and the other a nazi eagle. The decals show surface wear and aging, but are secure. The interior leather headband is in great overall condition with an original maker logo on the exterior, and the interior shows a maker code and date stamp in ink. The interior crown has stamps as well, as shown.
