9/8/23 – This is a nice example of a late-war Inland M1 Carbine. The serial number on the receiver dates to late 1944 – early 1945. It has an Inland barrel dated December 1944. It has an adjustable rear sight and a bayonet lug. Given how late the serial number is, this could be correct. The stock is “HI” marked in the sling well, has a cross-canon cartouche, and has an “RIA EB” arsenal marking. It comes with an oiler, green canvas sling, and one proper magazine. The metal parts have retained roughly half of their finish with obvious wear and light spotty oxidation throughout. Some light surface rust on the magazine. Very nice stock with only minor bruises and scratches. The bore is mostly shiny with strong rifling, but there is tiny pin-pricking in some of the grooves.
