9/12/23 – This is a great condition 1895 (1918/22) Mannlicher Bayonet. This is an interesting bayonet as it retains many features from the 1895 Mannlicher bayonet with all the markings of a VZ-22 Bayonet. There is a patina down the length of the blade on both sides, and no rust or pitting. The edge unfortunately has been sharpened. The ricasso is stamped CSZ. The cross guard and pummel have a patina with some darker discoloration. Also shown on the pommel is the Czechoslovakian coat of arms and the number 1. Wood grips show handling wear with no significant issues. The scabbard has minor pin pricking and scratches, but it retains 90% of the bluing finish and is without dents or cracks. Markings on frog stud read E (Czech coat of arms) 23 CSZ. Overall very neat transitional bayonet from when Czechoslovakia formed and departed from the Austro-Hungarian empire.
