8/29/23 – This is a Lee Enfield (SMLE) No 1 Mk III rifle bayonet. The bayonet is in great overall condition with a nice blade that shows finish loss and light brown surface patina throughout each side. Some of the original finish is still found on the ricasso, where there are proof stamps, and a crown over “G.R.I.” and “Mk. III” stamps. Also maker stamped “R.F.I.” for Rifle Factory Ishapore. 1945 dated. The cross guard and pommel are in great condition, with the spine of the handle export stamped “England”. Comes with an original scabbard that has black painted metal parts and a black leather body.
