8/17/23 – This is a nice example of an Arisaka Type 44 issued to the Japanese military during WW2. It is mismatched and has a ground Imperial mum stamp on the receiver. Comes with a period-correct but mismatched dust cover. The metal parts have retained roughly 75% of their original finish. The majority of the finish loss is on the floor plate and trigger group. There are areas of brown patina and spotty oxidation throughout, most obvious on the floor plate, trigger group, butt plate, and on the bolt. Noticeable pitting on the dust cover. Nice wood furniture with the typical signs of wear. The rifling in the bore is worn with minor pitting throughout.
