7/18/23 – This is a nice example of a Japanese Arisaka Type 38 Training rifle, designed to shoot blanks with a smooth bore. All numbered parts are matching. Comes iwth an un-numbered dust cover. The metal parts have retained most of their finish. However, there is noticeable brown patina and spotty oxidation throughout. The wood furniture has no major damage, but shows the usual signs of wear. There is a brass plate numbered “522” on the right side of the butt stock. The top screw of the butt plate is loose and does not screw securely into the wood. The bore has no rifling. There is surface oxidation and minor pitting throughout.
