6/22/23 – This is an original WW2 German Kriegsmarine Tropical Uniform Jacket and Pants. These are often referred to as Afrika Korps uniforms, but research finds that this style uniform was used in all tropical climates (including Africa, the Mediterranean, and Southern Russia). Items from the DAK are rare and desirable, but most examples found today are from the German Luftwaffe. This example is from the Kriegsmarine, as indicated by the style of buttons, stylized with anchor logos. The shoulder boards are intact and secure but have some mild staining / yellowing from age. The singular pip and style of pattern indicate the rank of Oberleutnant zur See (Junior Grade Lieutenant Officer). All jacket buttons are intact and shows some mild high edge wear and mild patina, but no major issues. Below the left breast pocket there’s two added stitch loops for a medal or award, but these loops are broken (as shown in photos). The right breast pocket has a gold gilded aluminum eagle pin, non magnetic and has a wingspan of 9.5cm. The tan jacket is clean and excellent with no stitching issues, stains, or notable areas of wear. There are no tags or markings on the interior. The pants, on the other hand, have multiple ink stamps as shown in photos. The faded ink stamps around the waistband seem to read, “82” and “92” which are likely the size dimensions for length and width. The pant inseam measures about 30.5 inches long. The pants are excellent with a clean twill pattern. The metal pants adjustment loop has some surface rust on the metal clasp, and the tag has been ripped / removed from the waistband.
