6/15/23 – This is a nice example of an Arisaka Type 38 Carbine issued to the Japanese military during WW2. The parts are mismatched, and it has a partially-visible mum stamp on the receiver. The metal parts have retained about 90% of their original finish. There is thinning on the barrel bands and wear on the butt plate. While there isn’t a ton of actual finish loss, there is light spotty oxidation on most of the parts and areas of brown patina and dulling on the front part of the receiver, on the butt plate, and on the rear tang of the trigger group. There is no major damage to the wood furniture, but there are obvious signs of wear and use throughout. The rifling in the bore is fairly worn with minor pitting throughout.
