6/13/23 – This is an original SA Dagger from WW2. The dagger comes with an original, early style brown anodized scabbard and a leather hanger that’s maker stamped on the belt clip by Assmann. The dagger blade is in very good overall condition with some typical scabbard rub wear throughout the blade, and a few light surface scratches. There’s also spotty discoloration and surface patina on the blade, mostly near the edges and tip. The edges do shows light signs of sharpening throughout, but the sharpening is clean (not rough or ugly looking). There’s evident cross-graining throughout and a nice maker stamp by Wilhelm Weltersbach. The cross guards are early nickel and in great condition with some mild signs of aging. The lower cross guard is Gruppe stamped “Wm” on the backside, as shown. The wood grip has no cracks or chips and is in great condition with both emblems intact. The scabbard has significant finish loss, but no dents and fits nicely. The toe of the scabbard has both screws replaced and the aluminum fixture has mild ‘play’ or wiggles slightly. The hanger is excellent.
