6/13/23 – This is a very nice example of a Swiss Schmidt Rubin Model 1896/1911 straight-pull rifle. These are extremely interesting as these are very early rifles converted from the 1896 config to the later 1911 configuration by adding the pistol grip to the stock and re-barreling to the modern and proven 7.5×55 Swiss caliber. This one is mostly matching, but the rear sight and rear barrel band are mismatched. No import marks. Comes with muzzle cap. The metal parts have retained about 92% of their finish. There is wear around the muzzle and front barrel band, noticeable thinning on the trigger group, and some minor thinning, light brown patina, and light spotty oxidation on the receiver. The bakelite piece of the bolt handle is cracked. Excellent lacquered wood stock. The bore is factory-new.
