6/9/23 – This is an excellent condition 1943 production Smith-Corona 03-A3 rifle. The rifle is all original metal parts, consisting of both blued and parkerized components. We rate the metal around 96% overall, with some light surface wear on the rear sight and bolt area, as well as some mild finish loss on the barrel. The barrel is properly ’43 dated with “S C” maker marking and US Flaming Bomb ordnance stamp. The serial number also corresponds to 1943 production, and the bolt is Remington, which is correct for wartime production. The stock is replacement and lacks both proof stamps and cartouche markings in the wood. The upper hand guard is darker wood that appears slightly more aged, which we think is likely original. Despite being replaced, the wood is excellent and clean throughout, and fits the metal nicely. The bore has strong rifling and is excellent with some minor residue within the grooves. Comes with an unmarked leather sling.
