6/1/23 – This is an original WW2 Japanese Officer’s Type 98 Sword. The sword comes with an original brown and blue tassel (Junior Officer) and original scabbard. The blade is a 1943 production factory-made example signed by Yoshi Haru – Showa. The blade is shiny and clean in great overall condition with a uniform tempered edge. The edge is clean with no signs of post-factory sharpening or misuse. There’s a few very mild spots of dark speckling patina and light surface wear on the blade, as well as a few light surface scratches. The fittings are all matching bench numbered “125” and show typical surface wear and light tarnish from age and handling. The handle has excellent, clean wrapping. The mekugi is slightly damaged and broken, but this is a common and mild flaw.
