5/22/23 – This is an original WW2 Japanese Type 30 bayonet. The bayonet is known as a variation D on page 172 of Labar’s book. The bayonet features a blued fullered blade, straight cross guard, 2 screws & washers in contoured wood grips, bird’s head pommel, and a cone-tipped metal scabbard. The blade is sharpened about halfway down the edge and has very nice original bluing throughout. There’s dark patina and some surface pitting near the base of the blade, mostly on the side opposite the maker stamp. The hand guard and pommel have some dark patina and finish loss but no major issues. Excellent grips and the pommel is numbered and stamped with a Nagoya inspector’s mark. The scabbard has a few mild dents near the base but is in great overall condition.
