5/19/23 – This is a hard-to-find Springfield contract 1911. There were only about 30,000 of these made and few are found in such nice condition as many saw heavy use. Nearly all of the parts are properly marked with an “S” proof stamp (S marked parts are shown in the photos). It has the correct early Springfield grips with 11 checkers between the diamonds. It has the correct barrel (S marked) with a very nice bore. It has a WW2 mag with ‘L’ on the toe. The gun was made in 1914. The original finish rates at about 80-85% with most of the wear along the top of the slide, but a patch on the left side of the frame and patina on the grip frame. Bore shows minor use but generally shiny with good rifling. Listing includes an original 1917 dated holster.
