Kokura / Osaka Arsenal

5/24/23 – This is a Kokura / Osaka Arsenal Type 30 bayonet made at the end of production for this factory. The arsenal stamp was damaged at the bottom point of the stamp, leading to a few end-of-production examples with a small gap in the arsenal stamp. This is a textbook example with the rare arsenal stamp at the base of the blade. The blade shows some light signs of sharpening and use, as well as light surface oxidation throughout each side. The hooked cross guard and bird’s head pommel are in great condition with some typical patina throughout. The pommel is Osaka inspector proof stamped and falls into the serial number range of known examples, as cited on Labar’s book, page 115. Known as a variation “E” with a scarcity rating of 6, very scarce. The wood grips are original but the right panel has a crack down the side, as shown. Unfortunately, the release button has been replaced and isn’t original to this configuration. Price reduced accordingly. All other components are original. Comes with a tubular tipped metal scabbard in great overall condition.
